Solo performative-exhibition produced in the contexte of MOIS MULTI 2016

Duration : approximately 120 hrs - 5 hours a day following gallery opening hours (12PM-5PM, Wednesday-Saturday) from February 12 to March 13, 2016

This is a durational performance oscillating between reality and fiction, seeking to dress a self-portrait through associative memory and Internet binging.

Live-stream video (from my studio-apartment in Montreal to the gallery un Quebec-City) only visible from within a cubic installation installed in the gallery; Simultaneously, a photographic unraveling of daily actions and mind scape was disseminated on social networks and archived on a Instagram account.

Feminisms and Uncertainty: A Body of One’s Own and Beyond Oneself

Based on the work of Nadège Grebmeier Forget, Manon Labrecque, and Julie Delporte, Thérèse St-Gelais turns her gaze to images of bodies and identities whose representations seem inscrutable, uncertain, or elusive. Here, these images are understood as participating in feminist resistance and agency, as critiquing the construction of knowledge and savoir-faire. Between the quest for a body of one’s own and the reality of a body beyond oneself lie feminist issues of undeniable relevance in today’s world.
